The Enneagram

What is the Enneagram?

The Enneagram has gained immense popularity over the last few years with a plethora of online pop quizzes, top 10 lists, memes for each type, and offers to help you discover your type in quick easy surveys. The challenge is that many of those sharing information haven’t been properly trained or only focus on surface level stereotypes that don’t take into consideration the many factors that make up the specific expression of your type. Although it can be fun to explore these aspects of type, they don’t help you make big changes in your life, deepen your spiritual growth, or finally heal past wounds.

The fact is there isn’t only one Enneagram, there are many! It is a diverse tool and a sacred symbol that can be used to unlock your deepest motivations and your most profound spiritual growth.

The most common Enneagram information found today is based on what is commonly called the Enneagram of Personality or Enneagram of Ego. Understanding this information can be a very important first step into self-discovery. However, the Enneagram I use is called the Process Enneagram or the Enneagram of Essence.

The Process Enneagram evolved out of the mystical teaching of G.I. Gurdjieff and the spiritual and psychological work of Bolivian-born Oscar Ichazo. One of Ichazo’s students was Claudio Naranjo, a Chilean Psychiatrist. He brought this work to the US in the early 1970s and continued to develop and teach it, including developing the 27 subtypes.

Today the Enneagram of Essence or Process Enneagram is a powerful psycho-spiritual tool that can guide one through a lifetime of growth toward deep peace, joy, and spiritual understanding.  Along the way, it can also help you with more practical matters such as relationships, career choices, financial healing, and physical and mental health.

The Levels of Awareness developed by Beatrice Chestnut and Uranio Paes are not another hierarchical system that you must strive for to get to some unattainable high level of spiritual enlightenment.

Sunday sees it as a spectrum of awareness from complete unawareness to ultimate awareness. As we gain awareness, our lens widens to include more aspects of ourselves. With more awareness, more choices begin to be seen. More choices in how we respond to situations and people in our lives create more freedom and more skilled actions. It means less striving and more trust in life itself.

Work with Sunday

Using the Levels of Awareness, Sunday is in the unique position to assess exactly where it would be most beneficial for you to go on your self-growth journey.

Using her deep understanding of the Enneagram of Essence and the many skills she has honed over her 30 years as a spiritual and intuitive guide, Sunday supports her clients in crafted a plan of care and action that is then uniquely and loving unfolded during your work with her.

  • Online tests can be supportive in your quest to find your type. However, tests are often not correct, especially if they don’t take into consideration the 3 sub-types of each main type.

In my typing process, I use the CPS Compass test from CP Enneagram Academy, which does include your subtype. During our typing session, we can confirm your type or use the test to narrow it down to a couple of types to explore. The test comes with a 22 page guide for you, plus a coaching report for me.

The test is included in my Typing Sessions.
